Dear readers, you have spoken! And the winner of The Sin City Siren’s 5th Anniversary Charity Poll is God’s Groceries!
It was a hot match between The ACLU of Nevada and God’s Groceries. And up until an hour left in voting today The ACLU had it all but sewn up. But God’s Groceries, which is a non-profit organization run by two local churches — Northwest Community Church and First Christian Church — that helps provide food and other essentials for people in poverty, won the match! (Full disclosure: I go to Northwest Community Church. However, I did not vote in the poll.)
Rounding out the top three contenders was Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada, which got 25% of the votes.
As promised, I will be promoting God’s Groceries for a week, in celebration of my blog’s 5th anniversary (which is officially on Sunday, May 6)!
The best way you can help God’s Groceries is by stopping by their donation table inside the Albertson’s at Tropicana and Jones. They are tabling there all week and need donations! With the economy down, the need has been far greater this year than ever before!
You can also send donations to: God’s Groceries Food Ministries, 101 South Rancho, Las Vegas, Nevada 89106.
