It’s that time of year again: Time to bowl for abortion access for the National Abortion Access Bowl-A-Thon! I am proud to say that SCS has participated all three years of this event. But this year is special, because this year I am not just doing a virtual campaign to raise money for this good cause, but hosting a live bowling night, too!

So, why not join my bowling team and have some fun while we raise money for women across America to have access to the health care she needs? These laws that are being written and passed that screw women — like mandatory vaginal ultrasounds and waiting periods — have real consequences. Since half of all abortions are for women who are already mothers, these are women who know exactly what it means to take on the responsibility of caring for child. And the women who seek help from the National Network of Abortion Funds and its affiliates are looking for help covering travel expenses — since many states have only one abortion provider — hotel expenses, time off work, child care, and then the cost of the procedure itself. The procedure alone can cost anywhere from $450 to up to $3,000.
