Darn, that’s the end

I wanted to take a moment and wrap up The Sin City Siren 4th anniversary fundraising campaign for Planned Parenthood of Nevada. It was a fun way to celebrate my blog’s anniversary and pay it forward. And it’s something I am considering doing again next year.

First, I want to apologize that it has taken me longer than expected to report the results. I had some technical difficulties on my end (computer death, always sad) and there were some technical difficulties in getting the data from PPSN (not their fault, these things happen sometimes). The bad news is that there were no donations to PPSN that can be attributed to the SCS campaign. But, the good news is that it certainly generated some interest in PPSN, as I can attest from the clicks on links and the number of hits each post had.

There could be a lot of reasons why there were no donations — the bad economy, the campaign’s proximity in time to both the AFAN Walk and Race for the Cure fundraising events, and even my recent campaign for the National Abortion Funds (in which I raised $130 in 3 days). So, I don’t really look at this as a failure. I know that SCS readers are generous — of their time, money and other resources — as you’ve shown me time and time again. Things happen.

No matter how much or how little money I raise when I do these campaigns, I always appreciate that there are so many readers and loyal fans of my blog. I have often said that this blog has helped me rediscover my own voice in activism and grassroots organizing. And that’s because of all of you! So, thank you for being so supportive of this little-blog-that-could. You have helped me accomplish so much more than I ever imagined! And I know that there is so much more to do and so many more things we will accomplish together!

And just in case you missed any of the posts in the week-long PPSN fundraising campaign, here they are in one handy place. (And while you’re at it, here’s a handy link to their donation page.):
