Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada needs your help now more than ever. With the state legislative session under way, we have the opportunity to get Real Sex Ed in Nevada’s schools with your help! We are also under attack at the federal level and at risk of losing critical funding in Las Vegas if you do not act TODAY. We must stand up for reproductive health, and we need your help to do that. Below are the five easy steps you can take to get involved and make a difference:
1) Do you stand with Planned Parenthood?
The U.S. House of Representatives has already voted to strip Planned Parenthood health centers of all federal funding. If the Senate follows suit next week, thousands of women will be directly impacted right here in Las Vegas. We need you to stand with us now and show your support for reproductive health care. We need you join more than 500,000 people nationwide and sign our online open letter to Congress at www.istandwithplannedparenthood.org to show that people all across America believe in Planned Parenthood and the essential services we provide. We also need you to call Senator Reid TODAY at 702-388-5020, let him know that you are a constituent and that you want him to not allow the federal defunding of Planned Parenthood.
2) Rally for Choice this SATURDAY!
Plans are under way for Rally for Choice Las Vegas on Saturday, Feb. 26, at noon!
This is part of the national, grassroots Walk for Choice campaign happening everywhere this Saturday! (We’re not walking because it is supposed to rain!) We need you to join us to show that people in Nevada care about Planned Parenthood and choice. This event is in response to the GOP-led House vote to defund Planned Parenthood by denying them family planning funding under Title X. We must send a message to the Senate and the President that these cuts will hurt millions of women!
3) PPSN Lobbying and Messaging workshop for our Comprehensive Sex Ed bill!
Join PPSN next Saturday, March 5 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm for an informative workshop on how to talk about, support, lobby and fight for comprehensive sex education in Nevada. This legislative session we are supporting a bill to mandate that comprehensive sex ed be taught to our young people and we need YOU to take a stand. This workshop will help prepare you to take part in lobbying at the capitol! Lunch will be provided and you must RSVP to attend.

4) Planned Parenthood Goes to Carson City and you can join us!
WE NEED YOU! Join PPSN for the trip of a lifetime to Carson City, Nevada! We will drive to Carson City to lobby our legislators on our Sex Ed bill! We will be leaving for Carson City on Saturday, March 12th and will attend Grassroots Lobby Days with the Nevada Women’s Lobby. We will return from Carson city on Tuesday, March 15th. All expenses for the trip will be covered by PPSN. Please contact Annette by Thursday, March 3rd if you are interested in attending. All attendees will be required to attend the Lobby Training at PPSN on Saturday, March 5th.
5) Join PPSN for a Phonebank!
Next week PPSN will be holding 3 phone banks on Tuesday, March 1st, Wednesday, March 2nd and Thursday, March 3rd. We will be phone banks to raise awareness about the current funding situation and our comprehensive Sex Ed Bill. Please let Annette know if you are interested in participating ASAP. We need as many people as we can get so any support you can provide will go a long way!
