Stuff’s happenin’ folks. Before we completely lose our minds to the holidays, check this shit out.
- Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but the free Defining Beauty conference is scheduled for Dec. 1 at UNLV. There are lots of sweet things planned for the one-day event, including a keynote address by Naomi Wolf, author of The Beauty Myth.
- It’s also a good time to remember that Dec. 1 is World AIDS Day. Are there any local events planned? I haven’t heard of any. Let me know in the comments if there are. [Update: The Gay & Lesbian Center is hosting an event tonight (Nov. 29) with the AIDS Memorial Quilt, HIV testing and a film screening. Check it out!]
- The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada is hosting a reception with Rep. Tammy Baldwin. The Wisconsin Congresswoman is the first openly gay legislator elected to Congress. The Dec. 2 reception starts at 2 p.m.
- Do you like vaginas? Then perhaps you’d like to take a swing at being in this year’s production of the Vagina Monologues. If you missed the auditions before, take heart! There’s another open audition day at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the College of Southern Nevada Charleston campus. To get details and reserve an audition time contact Miranda at lasvegasvm@gmail.com. You know you want to.
