The water committee’s meeting has been rescheduled to 2p.m. tomorrow (Oct. 31). So there’s still time to scare them into shape on what’s the right thing to do.
Take it away Erin from the Nevada Conservation League:
Tomorrow, the Las Vegas Valley Water District’s Rates Citizen Advisory Committee will hold their final meeting to discuss water conservation pricing.
Nevada is currently experiencing exponential growth which is increasing the demand for water. Prudent water conservation policies must be put in place to ensure that we reduce the strain on our most precious resource.
This is Your Last Chance to Contact the Committee!
A few points to consider:
- It is inappropriate to raise the rates for average households that use less than 10,000 gallons per month.
- Instead, we should increase rates for the most flagrant water wasters.
- A dramatically increased flat rate will not increase conservation. It will punish average families rather than those who are the most wasteful.
We should be sensitive to raising monthly service charges, as this does not encourage conservation. It simply increases the cost of water for consumers.
