Those who read the comments may notice that Erin McCarty of the Nevada Conservation League has left some great ones on the more eco-oriented posts. Specifically, I noticed today that she put information about an upcoming public hearing where Las Vegans can voice their opinion about coal power plants, like the one proposed in White Pine County which is projected to spew toxic filth all over the Great Basin national park. There were no public hearings scheduled on any of the three proposed coal plants until the Sierra Club stepped in and arranged one next week! Kudos Sierra Club folks and NCL!
Las Vegas, this is your chance to show the rest of the state that you care about the environment state-wide!
Here’s the info (thanks Erin):

We should get as many people as we can to go and voice their opposition to not only this power plant, but to all coal-fired power plants!
In addition, Erin told me about an upcoming screening at 6 p.m. on May 29 of a Frontline special on global warming at the Sahara Library. NCL and the Sierra Club will be joining forces to gather petition post cards (against coal-fired power plants) that will later be delivered to the governor.
