Joe Heck’s tone-deaf response to DREAMer says a lot

This video really kind of speaks for itself. Victoria, a high school senior, shares how hard it has been to live on her own after her parents were deported. A DREAMer — a term that references the DREAM Act and refers to children who are born in this country to undocumented immigrant parents — Victoria tearfully implores Rep. Joe Heck, R-NV, for support of comprehensive immigration reform.

His response? “I can only imagine how hard that must be. I know how hard it is for me to be on the West Coast and my parents live on the East Coast.”

Dude, your RICH, WHITE, GUY privilege is showing!

And just in case you find this whole thing as outrageous as I do, here’s a handy little thing you can pass around to your friends:

  1. Outrageous!! Since I lobbied him when he was in the Nevada State Senate, this comes as no surprise to me..he is so out of touch with the plight of people like Victoria or anyone needing services from the government.
