Nevada Cure’s book drive for women’s prison

The folks at Nevada Cure are holding a book drive for inmates at the women’s prison in North Las Vegas. The non-profit organization works to better conditions for prisoners and has already held two successful book drives for the Ely State Prison and High Desert State Prison. This would be for Nevada’s only women’s prison.

As organization member Natalie explains:

Prison libraries are woefully inadequate, pathetic really; and, the only other way for prisoners to get books is for their relatives to buy NEW BOOKS ONLY through Amazon.com. This is out of reach for most prisoners, so they rely on the libraries.

What do you say, Sirens? Can we help some women out? Perhaps even open some minds with some great feminist reads?

If you want to help, you can drop off books at Nevada Cure’s office at 540 E. St. Louis Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
