Passing this along:
Transgender Day of Empowerment (TDOE) brings together an array of nonprofit organizations and businesses working to empower Nevada’s transgender communities. “Our hope is to expand access to the number of culturally-competent providers to help meet the growing medical and service needs of the estimated 40,000 transgender persons in Nevada,” said EQNVCS Director Jane Heenan.
The event’s keynote speaker is Marci Bowers, MD. Dr. Bowers is a highly respected genital reassignment surgeon practicing outside San Francisco who is transgender herself. In addition to the keynote address, TDOE will feature workshops, a community town hall forum, and a “Know Your Rights” training on newly implemented statewide civil rights protections for Nevada’s transgender citizens in employment, public accommodations and housing.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
