As promised, all this week I will be campaigning for the winner of the SCS anniversary fundraising contest. And that winner, by a landslide, is Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada! Congratulations to PPSN!
Indeed, PPSN jumped to an early lead on Friday and stayed there over the course of the voting period. Within hours of announcing the SCS poll, PPSN pulled ahead and had 80% of the vote by the end of Friday. But the Nevada Coalition Against Sexual Violence and the Sin Sity Sisters lobbied hard over the weekend and chipped away at PPSN’s overall take of the vote. In the end, PPSN won with 69% of the vote; NCASV was second with 16%’; and the Sisters had 9%.
Here are the full results:
I want to thank everyone for voting in the poll and kicking off what I think might be a new tradition on SCS. What better way to celebrate the anniversary of my blog than to give back to the community that has helped me grow this space and do so much activism and grassroots organizing through it? Thanks for being so awesome Siren readers, friends and supporters!
Another big shout-out goes to all the organizations in the poll. Thanks for being game! Thanks for encouraging your members and supporters to vote and for taking it all in the spirit of fun that it is intended. I support each of these organizations. They are all winners to me!
Now, here’s where the real fun starts! Let’s raise some serious money for PPSN this week! I know we can do it!
Here’s the easiest way to do it: Click here and donate online right now! And if you would be so kind, please do so in honor of The Sin City Siren (so I can track how much we raise).
*A note about the donation and fundraising process this week: I will not be collecting money directly. I will encourage all of you to donate online or via mail directly to PPSN. That way, you never have to worry that I didn’t get your funds to PPSN. No middlewoman! And PPSN will get their money instantly, rather than waiting on me to hand it over. Win-win!
