My heart goes out to those who were affected by the deadly shooting at the Federal Courthouse today. I work at an office only a few blocks away and it was scary just to be on the nearby streets, which were closed by police blockades. A man identified as Johnny Lee Wicks walked into the courthouse and opened fire, killing one security officer and wounding a U.S. marshal. Apparently, Wicks was angry about a conflict over his social security benefits, which had been recently reduced.

My condolences to Security Officer Stan Cooper’s family. And my prayers for a speedy recovery for the marshal who was wounded.
