Sex worker rights march and vigil

The International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers is coming up on Dec. 17. My friend Crystal e-mailed me the details of local plans to honor the day:

Physical and sexual violence against sex workers is often ignored or silenced. Please join us as we bring their experiences to light and demand an end to the violence.

This year, SWOP-LV (Sex Wokers’ Outreach Project) will hold a memorial march down Fremont Street, with a candlelight vigil at the end. We will meet at the Fremont Street Experience Parking Plaza on the top floor. See:  http://www.scapa-lv.org/whats_hot/violence_against_sexworkers.htm for more info, including quotes from past vigils and info on serial killers who target sex workers.

Please bring a red umbrella or wear a red shirt in solidarity. Afterwards, those interested are invited to join us for dinner somewhere cheap (TBA). We plan that dinner will only cost you $10 or less.

Meet time: 7pm
End time: 9pm

For more information, email us at info(at)swop-lv.org or call us toll-free at 1-866-525-7967, ext. 701.
