Las Vegas hate crimes event featuring Fag Bug

Plans are rolling forward to create what I think will be a truly amazing hate crimes event, featuring the world-famous Fag Bug!

The big news this week is the announcement of the first organization to sponsor the event: Northwest Community Church. Part of the United Church of Christ, Northwest is an inclusive church with pro-women and pro-LGBT values. (Full disclosure: I am a member.) Through their help, I now have a firm location for the event: First Christian Church at 101 S. Rancho Drive.

Mark your calendars! April 19 at 7 pm at 101 S. Rancho Drive!

We’ll be viewing a segment of the “fagbug” documentary (available to view for free online or rent it on Netflix) and then hearing from Fag Bug owner Erin Davies, who will discuss her experience being the victim of a hate crime. Then we will have a panel of folks from our community, representing many different walks of life.

Please check out the Facebook event page for more info, to RSVP, and for the latest updates!

And there is plenty to do:

  • Can you help fund Erin’s $500 speaking fee? Click on the donate button in the right-hand column ===>
  • Can you help me get fliers printed? Monetary donations and/or donations of printing services are needed!
  • Would you like to be a part of the panel? Contact me!
  • Would you like to volunteer to help set-up or other on-the-ground tasks? We need you!

Please check back often for more updates! Thank you Las Vegas for helping me put on a world-class event. I love it when we can show off the heart of our city!
